Founder Masaru Kataoka opened Third World Store in 1986, the first fair trade store in Japan, specializing in fair trade coffee beans and working to create fair employment opportunities for coffee farmers. Their "Artisan Series" coffee drip bags not only use the highest grade high altitude hard beans (SHB) coffee beans exclusively from Guatemala's Santa Felisa Farm, but also invite a number of disabled people to hand-paint the bright and lovely packaging.
