CV
・Born in Uzumasa, Kyoto in 1979.
・In 2003, I became interested in the family business of my then girlfriend (now my wife) making nabemono (resonant instruments) and started working at Nanjo Kobo Co., Ltd. Work hard to learn traditional casting and processing techniques.
・Acquired the "Kyoto Certified Craftsman" certification in 2011. This was the starting point for me to think about a new shape for the bell. In an era when the ideal state of Buddhist altars and Buddhist instruments is constantly changing, we are trying to find a bell that fits the modern lifestyle.
・In 2019, the brand "LinNe" of Sawari's souvenir products was established.
This is one of the few specialized workshops in Japan that utilizes traditional techniques and knowledge cultivated over 180 years of business to produce "Sabari" bells, Gion Festival and various local hayashi cymbals, and Narumono-no-Shinto instruments using the traditional mold casting method.
All products are made of a type of bronze called "Sabari" that contains a large amount of tin, and are handcrafted from scratch by Kanzaburo Nanjo, the sixth-generation president of "Kyoto's Master Craftsman".
The bell is made of "Sabari", an alloy that is very suitable for making percussion instruments with beautiful tones. It has the characteristics of a clear tone and a long lingering sound. The lingering sound has ups and downs, and can produce a pleasing tone to the body and mind.
